A Whisper in the echoes of trees | Behind the scenes

July 22nd, 2014

Opening my inbox always makes me smile, there is some sweet satisfaction to the unknown opportunities an email could lead to. So when traveling duo Becky & Tommy from Luminescence Studios emailed, I have to say it was one of those opportunity moments. Asking me if I would like to create something beautiful for their trip to Queenstown… erm, yes please… my imagination was soon exploring and it wasn’t long before ‘Mystical Ballerina – A whisper in the echoes of trees’ was created.

Working along side a some of Queenstown’s finest wedding gurus, I could see my vision come together perfectly.  Throw in a couple of easy on the eye models, Kharma & Steve, and a to die for floral headpiece and we were ready to rock & roll.

As the day kicks off I’m in my happy place, I love nothing more than unpacking everything and watching all the little treasures come to life to tell a story.  It’s not long until I’m joined by the rest of the troops and before we even get the chance prep for the first scene we’re watching the blue skies turn grey and our anticipated drizzle turns into a heavy bath worthy pour.  My on set dream team are soon running around with umbrellas, the crockery is filling with puddles and our prop tent has started to leak.  Rescheduling sound like a pretty good idea right now, right?

When life gives you lemons, drink tequila.  With our tight schedule, the show goes on and the spirits remain high as Kharma rocks out in her flowing champagne tulle skirt and prances around the forrest looking all gorgeous.  Even with her skin turning to goose bumps and the Brigitte Bardot hair falling flat, she’s still smiling.

By the time we were ready for table close ups, my pretty little table, well, it was looking a bit sorry for its self.  Beaten down by rain and mud, it just wasn’t going to happen today.  We got absolutely soaked to say the least, but we kept on trucking, absolute troopers and hats off to everyone on set that got soaked through.  It’s a rap x
